Everyone knows that location is one of the most important considerations in real estate. And the location of Arbutus Ridge is very special, indeed. Southern Vancouver Island has much to offer: protected beaches, glorious views, generous amounts of sunshine, an abundance of wildlife and wild flowers, ancient forests and bountiful waters.

Arbutus Ridge is very easy to get to. Travelling to and from the rest of Canada, the United States and the world is a breeze – the major airlines link up through Victoria and Vancouver International Airports while commuter airlines connect downtown Victoria with downtown Vancouver and Seattle. Car and passenger ferries, from Victoria or Nanaimo, sail many times daily to the mainland, as well as to the Gulf Islands and the San Juan Islands in Washington State.

Our area is acknowledged to have Canada's best climate. We enjoy the mild Pacific climate that makes frost rare and snow something to talk about. Arbutus Ridge averages more days of sunshine in a year than some parts of Florida and the mountains shelter us from most of the winds and storms of the ocean.

Rainfall is minimal in this area. Yet, at Arbutus Ridge, you will be living near some of the richest forests in the world, with some Douglas fir trees almost 600 years old. The namesake tree of our new community, the Arbutus, is an extraordinary broadleaf evergreen that only graces such hospitable coastal climates as ours.

At Arbutus Ridge we’re carefully working with what nature has provided. Every planning decision has been carefully weighed - to protect the silence, to let in the fair winds and fine scents, to integrate the streetscapes, home sites and golf fairways with the surrounding groves of arbutus and fir.

The Village Centre commands a spectacular view from its high position in this extraordinary setting. On a clear day, you can look past Saltspring Island toward Active Pass and see majestic Mount Baker in the range of coastal mountains beyond.

Roll out of your driveway in the morning and walk on the wild ocean beaches of Pacific Rim Park in the afternoon. Head out at 9 a.m. and have coffee in the Empress in Victoria before ten. Stroll down the road to Manley Creek Park, just over the rise, have a picnic and saunter back home on the circular route for an afternoon game of tennis.

You're within minutes of all you need for a convenient, easy and active lifestyle. And yet, you are next to nature where deer are a common sight. With more than 150 species of birds on Vancouver Island, you'll spot many of them at Arbutus Ridge – and watch for our resident bald eagles. You may even see a pod of killer whales in the protected waters of the Gulf Islands. A stroll along the waterfront may pass you by seals basking in the sun on the rocks.
